Michel Sauers MICHEL F. SAUERS
Senior Vice President of Business Development

Michel (Mich) F. Sauers is Senior Vice President of Business Development for Comcast-Spectacor, the parent company of Global Spectrum. He assumed these responsibilities in July 2006. Comcast-Spectacor is the Philadelphia-based sports and entertainment firm which owns the Philadelphia Flyers of the National Hockey League, the Philadelphia 76ers of the National Basketball Association, the Wachovia Center, the Wachovia Spectrum and Comcast SportsNet, the 24-hour regional sports programming TV network. Mich Sauers, (formerly President and CEO of Global Spectrum) works closely with Global Spectrum to develop business opportunities that also involve other companies owned by Comcast-Spectacor that include Ovations Food Services, New Era Tickets and Front Row Marketing Services.

Sauers is an acknowledged expert on the management of public assembly facilities. Sauers became President of Global Spectrum in January 2000, when the facility management company he co-founded in 1994, Globe Facility Services, of Tampa, Fla., was acquired by Comcast-Spectacor, the Philadelphia-based sports and entertainment firm which owns the Philadelphia Flyers and Philadelphia 76ers among other interests.

Sauers has more than 30 years of experience in the facility management industry, with over 10 years as an executive with Spectacor Management Group, of Philadelphia.

Under his leadership, Global Spectrum has established a reputation as a responsive, professional and experienced partner with government in the management of convention centers, trade and exposition centers. The company has grown to over 1,000 full and part-time employees, which in 2005 show cased 5,783 events and managed $421 million in annual revenues.

Sauers entered the private facility management industry at its infancy. One of three original corporate employees of Spectacor Management Inc., Sauers played an important role in that firm's development, as he did in the creation of Spectacor Management Group (SMG) in 1989. From 1984 to 1994, he was senior vice president for sales and marketing, overseeing corporate sales and marketing activities, including business development, lead tracking and corporate positioning.

As SMG grew larger, Sauers launched several of the company's new departments, including an FF&E department and SMG Consulting, both separate profit centers. As a result, he developed a well-rounded knowledge of the industry and the people in it.

He also spearheaded SMG's international ventures, serving as regional vice president overseeing the Sheffield Arena in Sheffield, England, and the Oslo Spectrum in Oslo, Norway. He was responsible for the supervision of SMG Japan, an affiliated company providing facility management services in the Far East. From 1974 to 1979, Sauers was director of marketing and productions for The Spectrum in Philadelphia. He oversaw the venue's group sales, advertising, promotions and public relations, and also recruited, booked and settled events for the facility.

He is the Immediate Past Chair of the International Association of Assembly Managers Foundation (IAAMF). He is currently Vice Chair for the International Steering Committee and Chairman of the Advisory Council for the IAAMF. He has been a featured speaker at major conferences, including the National League of Cities, International City Managers Association, and the International Association of Convention Bureaus and most recently at the China Expo Forum for International Cooperation held in Guanzhou, China.

A native of Montreal, Canada, Sauers received a B.S. degree in 1968 from St. Joseph's University in Philadelphia. He and his wife, Judy, reside in St. Petersburg and have two children, Jonathan and Julianne, and four grandchildren; Jack, William, Delaney and David.
